Can I still scan my animal cards?

Now that the BEAR Adventure app has launched, cubs cannot scan their animal cards onto the new app. Not to worry though, BEAR has though of lots of fun games that cubs can play with the cards… how about playing snap or top trumps with BEAR cub pals?

What can I do once I find a BEAR card/what do I do with a BEAR card?

Congrrratulations! You’ve found a BEAR card – have you tried to answer the puzzle on the back of the card? Once you’ve found a BEAR card, make sure you download the BEAR Adventure app to keep track of your collection.

Pssttt… on the BEAR adventure app, you will also be able to find out the solution to the puzzle!

Can I transfer my animal card collection onto the new BEAR Adventure?

Why has the BEAR cards app been updated to the BEAR adventure app?

BEAR decided it was time for something new… BEAR’s new and improved app is a hub where cubs can keep track of their BEARilliant Beast card collection. On the BEAR Adventure app, cub’s also have a range of REAL fun things to complete from drawing activities to yoga stretches, it’s the place for cubs to be!

Why do BEAR bars have nuts? Does this mean yoyos have a risk of including nuts?

We use nuts in our BEAR bars to make a grrreat tasting bar. BEAR bars are made in a completely different facility to all BEAR’s other ranges so there is no cross contamination from them to our other products.

What is black carrot extract and what is it used in your yoyos?

Our black carrot extract is completely natural, taken from black carrots. BEAR adds it in very small amounts to both strawberry and raspberry yoyos. The anthocyanins (pigments) found in black carrots give them their dark colour and therefore, add some colour to BEAR’s yoyos.

Do BEAR products have any Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)?

BEAR do not use any genetically modified organisms in any BEAR products.

Are BEAR products dairy free?

All of BEAR’s paws, yoyo’s, bites and bars are made without milk/dairy ingredients and there is no cross contamination risk from milk/dairy for these products.

BEAR’s squeezers and alphabites may contain milk due to the lines they are made on.

Are BEAR products Gluten Free?

All of BEAR’s paws, yoyo’s, bites, bars and squeezers are gluten free. Alphabites however, are not gluten free.

Are BEAR products suitable for Vegans?

Yes all of BEAR’s products are suitable for vegans.

Are BEAR products Kosher?

BEAR products which are certified as Kosher will carry the ‘KLBD’ logo on pack – all of BEAR’s yoyo’s, paws, bites and bars are Kosher certified.

Why have you changed your packaging? It looks different!

BEAR cares about protecting our natural environment, so we set ourselves a target to make 100% of our packaging recyclable by 2025. Most of our packaging has been recyclable since the start, but our yoyos film was the last piece of the puzzle, so we’re really happy to have found a solution that doesn’t compromise on taste (in fact, it improves it!) and can also be recycled at large stores.

But why have you moved from Paper to Plastic?

Although it looked and felt like paper, our old film was made from a mix of paper and plastic. This meant it wasn’t possible to be recycled in the UK with the current infrastructure, because the paper and plastic couldn’t be separated, GRRR!. We know this might have been confusing, which is why we joined the On-Pack Recycling Label (OPRL) scheme in 2021, to help make it easier for responsible cubs to dispose of packaging correctly by stating clearly on packs .

But isn’t Paper better than Plastic?

When choosing food packaging, we have to look at the total environmental and carbon footprint of each material and what its primary function is. We did try and find a paper-based solution for our 100% natural fruit snacks, but none of them passed our tests for product freshness. The new film is much lighter than our previous film, meaning less resources to produce the material and less fuel to transport it. This is a big step in our sustainability journey! New film = 41 tonnes less packaging! That’s the same weight as 170 grizzly bears!

What about compostable packaging?

Every type of food needs its own particular type of packaging! Our biggest challenge is that our packaging is the only form of preservation for our BEARilliant snacks. For standard compostable films to compost, they have to allow water to enter, which means they have no moisture barrier. This is a problem for our 100% natural fruit snacks, so we have to add a metal layer to the film to provide an essential barrier to protect our product! Did you know? We also discovered that a lot of compostable bioplastics are only suitable for industrial standard composing, so can’t be put into domestic outdoor or indoor compost bins!

Why can’t I just put it in my recycling bin at home?

At the moment there isn’t the infrastructure in the UK to collect, sort and recycle flexible plastics via your local council kerbside collection scheme, GRRR. Did you know? By 2027, all councils in England will have to collect these types of flexible plastics from your home recycling bin.

It’s the same GRRReat tasting, 100% natural fruit snack as before, but the new film helps keep the yoyos and paws fresher for longer, giving you a much juicer taste!
